New Year's Day

Released on Oct.3 this is the belated video to accompany the International Ghostrider Collective's latest release; New Year's Day. It's the new year with a new attitude, an optimistic attempt to start again. The International Ghostrider Collective. New Year's Day (russelldowsett) Time began in expanding spheres, of red and green & blue, standing on a mountain top, darkness conceals the truth. You don’t know how beautiful; the light falls on your face Pack my bag, in a taxi cab, I can’t stay in this place. Tullamarine the engine seems to sing a highway song The driver’s conversation can’t distract me for too long You know all I think about, it’s every word you say And you know we can start again if we make up New Year’s Day. Who can say where the journey started or where the journey ends All I know is the happiness to go round with you again. I’ve been looking in your eyes; when the light of kindness shines just like the immortal stars burning fire in the night The midnight strike’s intending to steal the year away, As we drown in champagne kisses, conversations, time & space. I gave myself a GHL (good hard look) while you were away And you know we can start again when we wake up new year’s day A strange and empty feeling, arises on day one I have made my resolutions there are better days to come. I feel a little seedy, my liver is under stress It’s a one-off celebration I have nothing to confess I am exponential; I just start a little slow Mighty trees from humble seeds in the soil slowly grow The rain, its tears that lovers shed, it washed hatred away So, you and I could fly again, on a New Year’s Day Cynics always drag you down; don’t listen to a word they say There is nothing that you can’t do my friend, start on New Year’s Day. Because it is There (2024)

This is a remix of our first ever YouTube upload, Because it is There. It was produced by Rob Meeks of the UK, this version will be released via Distrokid on February 29 2024. The song tells the remarkable story of George Mallory & Sandy Irvine's crazy-brave attempt to summit Mt. Everest on June 8 1924. The evidence tends to suggest that they were successful but perished on descent, it will remain a mystery until the body of Sandy Irvine is found and the camera in his possession is analysed. Because it is There Russell Dowsett I have no right to leave you darling, I failed in ’22. I don’t know why I’m always doing things others don’t think I can do. But I’m gonna take your beautiful picture And put it on top of the world. There are no words to understand and no dream that mustn’t be dared And I just look them in the eye – because it is there. Chumalungma, she’s calling me, Goddess, Mother of the Earth. I have heard her siren song From the moment of my birth. Last seen going strong, second step to the roof of the world Sandy’s tent was a tinker shop but he kept us in the English air. And together we will touch the sky – because it is there. They say I’m guilty, this is reckless ambition, I’m obsessed and I don’t care And together we will touch the sky, hollering – because it is there. The Newspapers want to know why I want to They want to know why I’d dare, There are no words to understand– because it is there Have faith, Sweet heart, we made it But it’s too late in the day. I’m cold and I’m exhausted, The fading light leads my mistakes. Save your pity for Sandy Irvine, a young man of 22. I was falling into your arms, I was falling into the air. I spoke your name to the howling wind, because it is there and in the darkness I see your face and I feel the wisp of your hair, I spoke your name to the howling wind, whispering; because it is there. Just a Dream

This will be the next song released by The International Ghostrider Collective, sometime this month. It is a powerful & beautiful ballad of first love and loss. Russell Dowsett, Tasmania, Songwriter / Vocals / Acoustic Guitar Majhon Phillips, New York City, Backing Vocals Jorgen Boots, The Netherlands, Keyboard Piergiorgio, First Lead Electric Guitar Fernando Zns, Spain, Second Lead Electric Guitar, Producer Mark Nisbet, United Kingdom, Bass Tom Roland, United States, Drums Love is a Dream Once upon a New Year's Eve at a riverside football club. She took his hand and then they kissed, they couldn't wait for twelve o'clock. We will Rock you sang the Queen as he lugged gear for the band, Gently rang the Auld Lang Syne way up to the grandstand. Love is a dream, love it is a dream you know he wants to stay forever he does not want to leave the morning comes to break it up no matter how real it seemed through bleary eyes, he realized that love is just a dream. It was on St Valentine's with a sympathetic moon, that cast its swathe of silver lighted shadows around her room Lover's only need one chair, as night calls on the day and what she gave you cannot touch or ever take away. On a dark and desperate day as he waited for her train. With strawberry wine, food for thought and a sound track of the age. Then he asked the question as the commuters they come and go, she brushed a tear, she shook her said, said; " look I... I have to go."

Scars

A new track from the International Ghostrider Collective, Scars, is a murder ballad based on a too very real story. It concerns the brutal murder of Peter Falconio and the ballsy escape from her captor by Joanne Lees. More than this the track touches on the appalling behaviour of the English & Australian tabloid press. Essentially this song is a murder ballad that quickly deviates into a media regulation rant. It’s principle inspiration comes from the Victim of Crime impact statement read to the court by Joanne Lees in the trial that convicted the murderer of her partner, Peter Falconio. The song has gone through a few iterations before it arrived here as a new release for the International Ghostrider Collective. It holds the honour of being the first song of mine to be produced online. I am guessing that this would have been around 2006/7. It was driven by a Dutch guy named Ryan who wore overalls in his profile pic. It divided opinion but I think it caught the element of evil and tabloid dystopia beautifully. It can be heard here: https://www.reverbnation.com/ghosties/song/6929011-scars Further down the track when Rob Meeks was Producer/Lead Guitarist we had a number of goes at it with the most developed to be heard here: https://www.reverbnation.com/ghosties/song/23548284-scars Fast-forward to 2023 and the ghosties have found an awesome Producer in Madrid, Fernando Znas. With patience & artistry he has pulled all of the contributions from the current line up of the Ghosties together into an atmospheric and meaningful piece of art. The line up on this released version of Scars is as follows; Russell Dowsett Aust. Acoustic Guitar/Vocals/Songwriter Gary Coombs Aust. Electric Guitars Majhon Phillips USA Vocals Ella Kon UK Vocals Mark Nesbit UK Bass Guitar Jorgen Boots Neth. Keyboards Tom Roland USA Drums Fernando Znas Spain Producer/Percussion https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/theghostriders/scars Scars (russelldowsett) This is the life that I have to live and the consequence is breathing. Helpless, evil, close by you, it’s the guilty seeds of grieving. Take flight in the desert tonight, Cos’ darkness is your friend. This is real life, this is not a dream But a night mare with out end. Scars on the outside, it’s just like doing time Am I a fool or what? This is; this is someone else’s crime. Scars on the inside, they’re the ones you cannot see All love endured for you alone And it’s lonely being me. A crowded bus and I can’t trust one person that I see They hide behind your paper face all reading about me. My privacy, it’s a luxury that I can’t afford to lose Shout my secrets to the world and call it prime time news. Shadows shatter a peace of mind like you would not believe, I’ll be strong and wiser now, a little less naïve. In the tabloid hell of kiss and tell, my story is not for sale This is my fight, and I crossed the world to see justice prevail.

Goodbye to Yesterday

Goodbye to Yesterday. This is the preview for the next release from The International Ghostrider Collective. The final mix has not been settled on yet but the word is that the song will be released to spotify and other music platforms on Friday May 5, 2023. Like most of their material this song had a longer gestation period than a large herd of elephants. At the centre of this song sits the hot, liquid core of the band, Russell, Jorgen & Mark. Surrounding the core sits the magnetic presence of reliable members; Karine (vocals) and Tom Roland from the United States! This driving track sports a powerful, all electric motor in the form of talented axeman, Gary Coombs. This track also features, for the first time in the producers chair, Fernando Znas from Madrid, Spain. Enjoy! https://theinternationalghostridercollective.bandcamp.com/track/goodbye-to-yesterday Russell Dowsett Aust. Acoustic Guitar/Vocals/Songwriter Gary Coombs Aust. Electric Guitars (Lead & Rhythm) Jorgen Boots Netherlands. Keyboards Mark Nesbit UK Bass Guitar Karine Le Gad France Vocals Tom Roland USA Drums Fernando Znas Spain Producer Goodbye to Yesterday (russelldowsett) 1: Childhood could never last, curtains of memory, fading fast burning all the bridges back to the past and watching all the walls decay... I'm washing my hands, I'm floating away, I don't hear a word that you say. I'm taking my mind back, to the blank slate, and it's.... goodbye to yesterday. Role models, morals of the private school, staring at the girl and you feel like a fool, screaming in a straight jacket, drowning in a pool of reality, qu'est-ce que c'est? I'm weighing the anchor, I’m hauling the ropes and I'm setting the lifeboats free. Don't come looking for the captain’s son cos you'd never recognize me.... Sandbags of guilt they're going overboard, expectations got to be ignored and all the excess baggage that I can't afford, I've given it to yesterday......

We should have been Friends

Friday, 30 December 2022, 11:27pm. The International Ghostrider Collective are pre-releasing their up and coming new track on YouTube: We should have been Friends (russelldowsett). It's late so I will fill out this information later, just know official release is set for January 4 2023. Friday, 6th January Twelth Night. Please check out our new Album; fish https://push.fm/fl/fwykfww2 As a lot of people enjoy having the lyrics posted, here they are....... We should have been Friends. 1: I was here before you were and I've seen 'em come & go, should have said and should've done just never, ever knows. On the day you landed, I put out the welcome mat but all you did was scrape your boots, you never scratched my back! 2: You were oh so charming with your cardboard cut-out smile, but I was just your customer and you fooled me for a while. I got all your text-messages but this one it's for you, as relationships get tangled, they've always needed two... Chorus 1: So let’s continue as we've started, it's too late to make amends, we should've been, we could've been, we should have been friends. 3: If I said I'd be there for you, you know I always was, whether you needed me to or not, I came out just because… I just cannot help myself, I could do this all night long and even when offended Ive always sung along. Chorus 2: But I'm taking my head of your brick wall, don't apologise or defend, we should've been, we could've been, we should have been friends. 4: It's my sensitive little ego and it's coming out again, I’ve tried to conceal it but every now and then. When you're standing next to me you illuminate the night but you, you always think I'm wrong even when I managed to be right Chorus 3: Well I've read your book from cover to cover and the best bit was the end, we should've been, we could've been, we should have been friends. so lets continue as we've started, it's too late to make amends, we should've been, we could've been, we should've been friends. Bound to You

To celebrate the impending release of a new track from The International Ghostrider Collective we present this video of the song, Bound to You. The track was produced by the legendary Jimmy Arvidsson in Sweden. This is not the version that you will hear on Spotify and all other audio based platforms, we like to mix it up for our fans! The official version will be different from this one. Plans are for a shorter, radio edit version & an alternate version of this one to be released in the very near future. We will keep you posted! This song is the first collaborative song recorded by the ghosties, Russell wrote this song with Australian drummer Craig Bennett. He said, " As I recall Craig sent me a song of his called Queen of the Night which I substantially rewrote, with his permission. The result was unpredictable but it meanders along in a very pleasing manner thanks to the gorgeous vocals of Karine La Gad, I am pleased with it." This track is included on our first album, fish.... https://push.fm/fl/fwykfww2 The personnel playing on this particular version is listed at the end of the video but I will reproduce here for your convenience. Bound to You (russelldowsett/craigbennett) Russell Dowsett Aust. Vocals/Acoustic Guitar Karine La Gad France Vocals Jorgen Boots Netherlands Piano Accordian Mark Nesbit UK Bass Guitar Liam Sutherland Scotland Electric Guitar Conny Stade Sweden Drums Jimmy Arvidsson Sweden Producer Bound to You (Dowsett/Bennett) I’m wretched woman~ this complex wreckage combinations of fire and ice. Six and seven for heavenly creatures, snake eyes on the tumbling dice. Floating and sinking and testing the waters, a spirit unseen and sublime. The rhythm and harmony, of tangled love aggravated by a thought in my mind. Everywhere I look I see those eyes in shades of blue- there's substance to abuse, I'm bound to you. You caught me in my sleep, you've been dancing in my dreams Take those chains from off your heart you'll feel it too, I’m bound to you. The ground is shifting underneath your feet, your happiness cracked on a plate. If you insist, well treat me like this but I intend to be your biggest mistake. It’s been four minutes and twenty-four seconds like a lifetime wasted it's true. Oh! I hate this stuff, I've had enough the side effects are endangering you. I’m on a mission to fix all this, for no reward, just tell her I came. It's raining blood in the garden of dust, If it dies, I know who to blame.

Hippopotamus

Hippopotamus (russelldowsett) Sh! Every one here she comes, with her heart upon her sleeve, he steps up with a put down now; he feeds on her self esteem. Staircase wit, intelligence, goes absent with out leave, While he sits in the corner licking his whiskers, the cat that got the cream. Sticks and stones, water off, you go for it girl! Call me a hippopotamus but; " you’ve got one skin less than the rest of the world." I don’t know where she’s coming from or why she feels like that, she should know, it’s shut your mouth, the low life sewer rat. She finds her line, she gets her length and then she cries howzat! But there is no umpire in this life to raise her finger at. Thank you Kate giving me a leg, giving me a leg up too. The unexpected elements of love they came from you ! Hey! Call me John, he goes on and on It’s not against the Law, As he oils the wheels of vitriol, just to draw applause. I heard him on the radio, ranting on the phone. He’s a toxic, shock-jock, misogynist, just like Mr Jones! An older song produced and produced well by Rob Meeks in the UK. I cant remember when I wrote this song but it was shortly after hearing Australian author Kate Legge speaking on what today would be called a podcast! I went out and purchased her book, The unexpected elements of Love and really enjoyed reading it. Most of this song is not directly from the book but it did start the creative ball rolling. The Bridge is a direct tip of the hat to Kate for the inspiration and the tag line at the end of the chorus is, I think, a direct quote, more or less, from her writing. I am keen to officially release this song in the near future as it contains just the core of the original ghostriders Rob, Jorgen, Mark and myself. I have no idea who the backing vocalist is so this will need to be swapped out for one of our current members. The drums are programmed so maybe if Tom has time we can fix this as well. Russell Dowsett August 16 2022.
